Hibernation: These ants will hibernate in the winter months, but with a heat pad, they can continue to work and make brood all year round.

Diet: Water. Carbohydrates such as honey and other sweet foods like Ant Park Strawberry Sunrise Ant Nectar. Will also eat seeds, such as Ant Park Foraging Mix. Ant Park All-in-One Ant Food. Ant Park Complete Ant Food gel. Insects are needed to grow their larvae.

Colony: Polygyne (multiple queens per colony). Average 7,000 workers per colony.

Bite/Sting/Formic Acid: Soldiers may nip.

Description: Pheidole Megacephala are a fast-growing species that can grow incredibly fast because they can have multiple queens producing eggs. They thrive in humid environments and will often sit on damp cotton or other surfaces. Pheidole Megacephala exhibit one of the biggest caste differences in all ants, with their soldiers (super majors) being incredibly huge compared to their workers.
